Jeremiah for Senate
Jeremiah Kim is a second year undergraduate student majoring in Media Studies. Having been involved in the Berkeley Dance Community since his first semester at Cal, Jeremiah has taken on several different leadership roles such as: Campaign Manager for ASUC Senator Karina Sun, Chief of Staff for ASUC Senator Karina Sun, Marketing Chair and Vice Executive of AFX Dance, Director of an AFX team, etc. He has shown his dedication and versatility within the dance community by having participated in 5+ dance organizations as well as 16+ teams. Although the dance community fosters a sense of belonging to many students, the sheer size of the community introduces its own set of problems. As an aspiring ASUC senator, Jeremiah hopes to build unity within the dance community, further relations between performing arts groups, Cal Performances, and campus admin, and provide and improve upon resources for RSOs in order to maintain sustainability.

How We’ll Get it Done
I. Building Unity Within the Berkeley Dance Community.
Create community culture and a sense of unity through weekly BDC-wide workshops hosted by a different organization each week.
Encourage community bonding and wellness events.
Increase participation of the dance community in philanthropic events and causes.
II. Furthering Relations with Cal Performances and Campus Admin and Augmenting Practice Spaces.
Form a Coalition of the Arts with Performing arts groups on campus to increase visibility with Campus Admin.
Work towards a more concrete and efficient reservation system with Cal Performances while fighting for RSO priorities.
Advocate for more reasonable prices for RSOs booking performance spaces.
Look into alternative performance and practice spaces on campus.
III. Providing and Improving upon resources for RSOs in order to Maintain Sustainability.
Work more closely with the Finance Committee to develop a subset of the committee devoted to applying to grants from outside sources that pertain to the unique goals and visions of various clubs on campus.
Host workshops and counseling RSOs to find more efficient ways to fundraise and save their money for long term sustainability.
Find ways to utilize money from the ASUC in order to cater to recurring, individualized needs of organizations.
